ADBUSTER

It is just unbelievable that when I started to search for an AD, I figured out that half of the adds are appropriate to be busted. I decided that it is my fault to be like that because I am having magazines that are published for men. Looking in a magazine "Details" I found that if the AD does have a women or girl in it, the men look different and you can see that he is the one that dominates. I decided to look outside of home and went on youtube. I went there because everyone use youtube and the ages of people using the website are very different. My mom even knows youtube and uses it frequently and e-mail links to her friends. So going back to youtube I decided to find a commercial that would be related and able to be seen by younger people. It is interesting how we get use to the half-naked videos and commercials from kids. So I found a commercial for Wii gaming console that got my attention. It seems that the commercial is made with humor and made to bring a message to the buyer of Wii. But really what they do is that creators of the AD has kept the stereotypes and do show similar perspective to the one of the Dreamworld Videos.
The video can be seen here:

if that doesn't work just copy and paste the link:

So young boys would be the main target of the AD and it is scary that children are expose to these commercial and they make association between their favorite computer console and the hot blonde white skinny girl that is half naked, shows her sexual need and touches her body with lust. What would a 9year old boy using youtube would think about this girl that represents Wii and that asks him from the screen to meet him soon.

And what matters is that the Wii girl wins and the Wii shows up saying that it is very fun. Should we perceive that Wii is fun as the girl that represents it.

The girl was touching her body most of the time during the commercial showing that she is fun. Children watching that build up vision about their Dreamworld where Wii is what they want. There is a serious message hidden with the comparison of Wii with someone "beautiful" and fun and Playstation 3 console as someone fat and boring.

Beauty is portrayed in the Cosmopolitan way and the close up pictures shows that the AD is targeted towards men. Females are portrayed as being compared and if they are not half naked that they are not fun.
Most likely the commercial could change with girls that are normally dressed and the girl could be not touching herself most of the time.
"Sex sells" We can see it everywhere. The demand from people to see naked girls is high and companies want to keep their profits high. It is just business many say.
